Time to change the Story...
What's the story?
-
Only 4% of schools in Sierra Leone have access to a library.
-
Reading is typically limited to school textbooks & notes.
-
most young children can only be seen reading in class or when they are preparing for tests & exams.
-
The culture of reading for pleasure has been lost over time.
-
With limited books available especially for early grade reading, children are not fluent in English which is the language of instruction at school. This adversely affects cognitive development & overall school performance.
